Following on from his already existent catalogue of instantly danceable bangers, James Delaney has just dropped his exceptional debut EP Dissipate. On writing it, he says “I tried to track the trajectory of every relationship I've ever had and figure out why things always fall apart so dramatically. In 7 tracks I chronicle what it's like to fall in love as a deeply depressed person”. One section of this narrative, ‘Change Me’ is surprisingly heartfelt for a track with such gritty, deep basslines. The disconnected beats reflect the lyrics, but the falsetto chorus shows off his ability to dive straight into the realm of catchy pop melodies. There’s even a saxophone solo. - Dan Peeke
